SALEM — When Jenn Santo and her family moved to the Salem Common neighborhood four years ago, something immediately caught her eye: the playground. Of the 25-year-old wooden structures on the southeast corner of the nine-acre park, Santo said: "This is the central park for our city, and it's boring and unsafe." She is among a group of Salem Common neighbors, mainly parents, who have been on a crusade the last three years to build a new playground. They researched and helped design a structure they hope will replace the current equipment — and they raised more than $35,000 to do so. Tomorrow night, the city's Park and Recreation Commission will take up three designs for a new Salem Common playground, including the one supported by the parent group.
*Congrats Parents United and everyone who has helped raise funds for this wonderful playground!
